Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick Swatches

In case you missed my first post of these swatches, I decided to put them all in one. Can you tell I'm a little obsessed with the Maybelline Vivids lipsticks? I'm trying not to convince myself that I need the entire collection but like I said I think I picked out a good mixture of different colors from pinks, reds, corals, and plums. Unless there happens to be a BOGO sale on these babies, which I know there will be one eventually, I'll try to steer clear from them for the time being! Anyway, I hope you all find this helpful.

MAC Candy Yum Yum and Maybelline Fuchsia Flash Dupe

MAC's Quite Cute collection that came out in Spring 2011 released this amazing neon, hot pink lipstick called Candy Yum Yum. I remember it being the talk of the beauty community and it was then I knew I just had to get my hands on it. Just recently they made this lipstick a permanent shade at MAC which makes me happy because I don't have to go above and beyond in case I ever run out or lose it. Even if they didn't make this lipstick permanent, I have found a really good dupe of the lipstick! Maybelline's Fuchsia Flash lipstick that came out in the Vivids collection is a great and an inexpensive alternative to MAC's Candy Yum Yum. You can't beat $7 for a lipstick compared to one that is $15!

Although the lipsticks are very similar and can very much well be a dupe of each other, they are also somewhat different. Candy Yum Yum is a matte finish, therefore it has a much drier formula, while Fuchsia Flash has a shinier finish and glides on a lot easier. Also, Candy Yum Yum is more blue-toned so it has a cooler undertone compared to Fuchsia Flash which is more pink-toned and has a warmer undertone.

Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids Lipstick Swatches & Photos Pt. 2

Here is part 2 of my Maybelline Vivids lipstick swatches. Click here to view part 1.
I can't get enough of these lipsticks. I'm in love with all the colors! Shocking Coral is a coral pink color and Fuchsia Flash is a bright hot pink color. It took me forever to find Fuchsia Flash lipstick because I know it's a perfect dupe for MAC's Candy Yum Yum lipstick. I'll do a post right after this to show you the comparison between the two. I want to get the entire collection of the Vivids line but as of right now I'm totally happy with the 5 that I have.

Maybelline The Rocket Volum'Express Mascara Waterproof Review

Maybelline The Rocket mascara is said to provide eight times the volume for your lashes. You can find this at your local drugstore for around $6-$7. When I first saw this mascara I was intrigued by the packaging and the commercial. I'm sucker for these things, okay? I first noticed how the mascara wand reminded me of the Covergirl LashBlast mascara wand, which I love! Since my natural lashes are short, the oversized wand grabs onto my lashes better. So I bought this mascara thinking it would give my lashes the same outcome if not better. I did notice a slight difference between the two though. The Rocket mascara is more pointy and slightly a bit wider in my opinion.

I've been using this mascara for more than a week now so I think it's safe to give my honest review on it. Do you ever use a mascara for the first time and it's just not that great? I find that I have to use my mascara a few times in order for the mascara to form just the right consistency for me. That's how I felt about this mascara. I first used this mascara and thought, mehhh. Nothing too great. But the more I kept using it, the better the consistency became and the better it applied to my lashes.

As you can see in the photos below, this mascara is not meant for lengthening, at least not for me. I look for more volumizing mascaras so if your'e looking for a lengthening mascara then this might not be the one for you. I thought that this mascara held the curl quite nicely throughout the day. I didn't notice any flaking which I do experience with other mascaras such as Maybelline Plush Lash mascara.

The size of the wand is not too big and it's not too small that it's difficult to apply mascara. The size of the wand distributes mascara evenly throughout my lashes without clumping. I can get away with just doing one to two coats of this mascara without any clumping. I would definitely repurchase this mascara again as it's a close second to my favorite Covergirl LashBlast!

Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids Lipstick Photos & Swatches

During my excursion to Ulta I stumbled upon the new Maybelline Vivids lipstick line that just came out recently. All I can say is holy amaze balls these lipsticks are to die for!!! Vivid is definitely the perfect word to describe them. I only purchased a few for the meantime just to test these babies out before I make a decision to buy more, but judging by the pigmentation of these lipsticks, I'll definitely be going back! These lipsticks are not only extremely pigmented, but they go on like a dream. The consistency is creamy much like all the other Maybelline lipsticks that I have. It feels moisturizing when on and it doesn't dry out my lips. You can find these lipsticks at your local drugstore for around $7 each.

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush Review and Swatches

I've been on a blush kick lately. Earlier this week I went ahead and picked up 2 of the new Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes because I was curious to know how these held up. I've never tried a blush quite like this. It's not a solid and it's not quite your typical cream blush either. It has a bit of give to it, hence the name "bouncy" blush. It has a almost like a marshmallowy mixed with play-doh type of texture if that makes any sense. I've never tried their mousse blush before so I can't make any comparison between the two.

AVAILABILITY: Drugstores
PRICE: $8 USD
SIZE: .19 OZ / 5.6 g
VALUE FOR PRICE: 3/5
APPLICATION: 3.5/5
PACKAGING: 5/5
MEETS EXPECTATIONS: 4/5
OVERALL PRODUCT: 3/5

PROS:
□ Comes in a wide range of colors
□ Could be used as a base for your blush
□ Color is buildable
□ Blends easily

CONS:
□ Color payoff is very sheer
□ Wipes away easily
□ Not long lasting

FINAL THOUGHTS:
□ I find that these blushes go on a bit sheer. It's buildable but I feel like I would be wasting more product that way. I think if you're lighter than NC30 in MAC, these blushes would be more suitable for you otherwise you would just be layering on another blush right on top of it which is what I had to do. These blushes give more of a natural rosy cheek look, therefore; it shows up very faint. At first I thought it would be best to use a dense brush for application but I find that a fluffy brush works just as fine. Keep in mind the color payoff is not the most pigmented so you may be layering on the color just to get a decent amount to appear on your cheeks. Overall, I find that these are more fun to touch than their intended purpose.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow Swatches & Review

When I initially saw these I automatically thought of MAC Paint Pots. I thought these would be a great alternative to use as an eyeshadow base and the whole "24hr" pretty much sold me. The first time I swatched these on the back of my hand, I automatically noticed how creamy they were (almost buttery!). Just a tiny bit of this stuff goes a long way because the color pay off is amazing! I decided to pick up more neutral shades rather than the vibrant colors so I can opt out of using my more high end eyeshadow bases and use these instead.

AVAILABILITY: Drugstores (Walmart, Rite Aid, Walgreen, etc.)
PRICE: $5-$7 USD

SIZE: .14 OZ. 4g
VALUE FOR PRICE: 5/5
APPLICATION: 4.5/5
PACKAGING: 5/5
MEETS EXPECTATIONS: 4.5/5
OVERALL PRODUCT: 5/5

PROS:
□ Doesn't crease
□ Once it's on, it's on. It won't smudge or wear off
□ More affordable than MAC Paint Pots or other high end eyeshadow bases
□ Makes eyeshadows vibrant

CONS:
□ Not enough neutral or matte shades

FINAL THOUGHTS:
□ I definitely recommend these for everyone. Whether you're on a budget or not, it's always nice to have a good eyeshadow base on hand and these are definitely worth having. Since I have oily eyelids I usually start off with UDPP (even when using MAC Paint Pots) because my eyeshadow will crease. But these do not budge or crease and they definitely make your shadows last longer. I only hope that in the future Maybelline will come out with more matte and neutral shades that will cater to people who aren't into shimmers or bright colors.

Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies Flared Waterproof Review

 No mascara

 One coat

Two coats
What it claims:
□ Unique flexible wand helps to lift and separate lashes to provide the look of more lashes.
□ Patented Spoon Curler brush loads every lash with flexible-hold formula to instantly build volume that goes up and out at corners.
To use: For best results, apply the Spoon Curler brush with the spoon side against the lashes then flare outwards with the side from root to tip.

This is once again another product that's been given a lot of hype and I fell victim to what others say about this. Though I use false eyelashes most of the time, I do prefer to have a decent mascara for those days that I don't feel like wearing any. After testing this product out I'm not so sure I'll be repurchasing this one in particular. Luckily I believed the hype when people claimed how amazing Covergirl LashBlast mascara was so I'll be sticking with that instead. :)

AVAILABILITY:  drugstores (Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc.)
PRICE: $4-6 USD
SIZE: .35 fl oz. / 9.4 ml
VALUE FOR PRICE: 4.5/5
APPLICATION: 3.5/5
PACKAGING: 4/5
MEETS EXPECTATIONS: 3.5/5
OVERALL PRODUCT: 3/5

PROS:
□ Adds volume
□ Holds curl
□ Separates lashes
□ Spoon shaped curler helps coat every lash

CONS:
□ Minimal lengthening
□ Formula was too dry
□ Lashes started to clump after the first coat
□ Lashes looked uneven

FINAL THOUGHTS:
□ I recommend this for people who have very short lashes because dryer mascara would stick better to thinner, shorter lashes. If you already have naturally long lashes then this could work for you if you're just looking for volume. When it comes to mascara I prefer a wetter formula because dryer mascaras clump easily for me and it makes my lashes look like tarantulas, and typically they offer very little length. :(

□ I also noticed that rather than coating and combing through my lashes consistently it made them look really messy and uneven. Some lashes were longer and some didn't have as much volume or length. That's definitely something to gripe about this product considering it's meant to give you the "falsies" look.

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder Review

Do you have oily skin like I do? Well this powder has been my holy grail and has worked incredibly on my T-zone. I know this product isn't technically brand new to most of you but I felt like I should have my own review on it since I've been using it for a long time now.

I've always set my foundation with powder but whatever I would use would never really last a sufficient amount of time for me on its own. On top of that, I really hated the idea of having to bust out my compact all the time just to control my shine.

I can't remember when I first started using the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder but so far it's been one of the best I've tried! I don't get as oily as I used to but I still get shiny from time to time and this powder works amazing when it comes to mattifying my face! I find myself only touching up with this powder just once when I'm out. Sometimes I'll do it twice but that's usually because I know I'm going to be out all night as well.

*Note: I don't use this to set my foundation. This is only my touch up powder that stays in my purse. :)

AVAILABILITY:  Local drugstores (e.g., Walmart, CVS, Target, etc.)

PRICE: $6-$7 USD
SIZE: .32 oz / 9 g
VALUE FOR PRICE: 4.5/5
APPLICATION: 5/5
PACKAGING: 4/5
MEETS EXPECTATIONS: 4.5/5
OVERALL PRODUCT: 5/5

PROS:
□ Great for people with oily skin
□ Helps control shine
□ Does not require very much touching up
□ Does not feel cakey
□ Did not experience any breakouts [results may vary between users]
□ Affordable and easily available
□ Very sheer and light coverage
□ Does not oxidize [results may vary]

CONS:
□ Not recommended for people with dryer skin types
□ The packaging! I don't like the swivel concept on the mirror part of the compact. I get that it's innovative but it always opens up. I just need something simple. I could break it off if I wanted to since I don't really need that part of the compact. :P

FINAL THOUGHTS:
□ If you're looking for something with good coverage, this product is not for you. I'm in the shade Beige and even though it looks a lot lighter than my skin, the sheer coverage makes it a good color choice for me. This powder stays in my makeup bag that I bring along with me everywhere I go. Even though I don't need to rely on it every hour because of its longevity, there's always those moments where I need it. For example, if I'm out with friends and we're going to take pictures then I'll do a quick touch up just to be safe!

Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder Review, Photos & Swatches

I'm so excited for Summer! I love Spring but I'm more excited for Summer because I think about going to the beach, driving with the windows down, going to the Del Mar Fair, and my birthday! But just like the weather in San Diego, it's starting to get warm now and it's having a huge impact on my skin.

Ever since I had my Rhinoplasty I noticed my skin getting oily more frequently. I used to have normal skin but now I have normal to combination skin with an oily T-zone. I don't know what happened or how it happened but it just happened! So my face gets oily throughout the day and I was in search of a decent drugstore powder to take with me on the go to save me from this issue.

I used to touch up with my MAC Studio Fix powder or my MAC MSF Natural but then I stopped for several years. Then the only thing I would use to set my foundation was my Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder but I would never take that with me on the go. So I never had a touch up powder for a very long time and at first it never used to bother me until I realized how much my face got shiny after a couple of hours. And because the weather is changing soon, I thought I should break my habit of not having a touch up powder and finally go out and get one. I wanted something simple and inexpensive. I wasn't looking for much coverage I just wanted something to absorb the oils in my face.

Product Details

Why You'll Love It

It's makeup that doesn't mess with you.
→ Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be…fresh, breathing, flawless
→ No oils, no waxes, no nonsense

AVAILABILITY:  Local drugstores such as Walmart and Target
PRICE: Around $5 USD
SIZE: 0.3 OZ (9 g)
VALUE FOR PRICE: 5/5
EASE OF USE: 5/5
PACKAGING: 3.5/5
MEETS EXPECTATIONS: 4/5
OVERALL USE: 4.5/5

PROS:
→ Inexpensive
→ Diminishes the appearance of pores
→ Wide range of colors to choose from
→ Absorbs oils and mattifies your face
→ Comes with a mirror and powder puff
→ Feels very light and airy

CONS:
→ Not very pigmented
→ Not ideal if you're looking for coverage
→ Requires a little bit of touch up every couple of hours but not a whole lot
→ Packaging is a little bulky but it's not a huge problem for me personally

FINAL THOUGHTS:
→ I ended up getting shade 210 (Sandy Beige) even though it may be a tad bit too light for me. But because it has very little color pay I thought it would be fine for my skin tone. And since I feel like my foundations tend to run a little dark for me, this shade would fix that.

→ I carry my MAC 129 SH brush with me and I use that to touch up my foundation. I noticed right off the bat that not only does it absorb your natural oils on your face but it also hides your pores. Now I don't have HUGE pores but they're visible to myself so I always notice them. But with this powder, it hides them and it gives my face such a smooth canvas. That's a plus!

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT? Yes but only for people who are looking for a powder to hide away shine but not coverage.
WOULD I PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT AGAIN? Yes.

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner - Review, Photos & Swatches

For years I've been faithful to my MAC Blacktrack Fluidline. I'm still an avid user of that product but I wanted to branch out and use something for everyday use that wouldn't break the bank on a regular basis. I've seen the Maybelline gel liner a few times at my local drugstores but I never considered purchasing it. So in a way you can say that I purchased this on a whim. And to be honest, I don't regret purchasing it at all! For the most part, it did a really good job at staying on my eyes. I do like to pull off the winged eyeliner and I did notice a little bit of fading in the wing but then again, what eyeliner doesn't eventually fade over time?

AVAILABLE AT: Local drugstores. I bought mine at Walmart
PRICE:
$6-$8 USD
SIZE: 1.06 oz (3g)
VALUE FOR PRICE: 5/5
EASE OF USE: 5/5
PACKAGING: 4/5
MEETS EXPECTATIONS: 4/5
OVERALL USE: 5/5

PROS:

→ Inexpensive
→ Appears very black which I like since some eyeliners that say black come off as a charcoal color.
→ The brush that comes with it actually works really well
→ More product in the pot than MAC Fluidline
→ Color pay is a definite dupe to MAC Blacktrack Fluidline
→ Waterproof

CONS:
→ Availability. I was really lucky to find this since they're always out of stock.
→ Slight smudging
→ Doesn't really last 24 hours as it states

Can you tell which product is Maybelline and which is MAC?
