FOTD

... as in Fail Of The Day.
Sorry guys, this post won't be containing FOTDS or anything like that. I'm just curious to know if you've ever had those days where you're so busy with life coming at you so fast that you can't even remember the last time you touched your makeup. You start feeling bad for these inanimate objects because you haven't payed them enough attention in weeks! I know I have. Which is why I chose today to play with some makeup and possibly work on potential looks that I can post. But do you ever have those days where it's just not the day to be doing your makeup? Like the colors you choose to work with are somehow not cooperating together! It sucks. It's a waste of makeup and effort. The downfall about not practicing your makeup skills is that it's not like riding a bicycle. You get taught riding a bicycle once and you're a pro for the rest of your life! But when you're good at putting makeup on and you stop for a while, your skills don't just sit there as it collects dust, it actually diminishes! I haven't touched my makeup since my St. Patty's look and when I attempted to create a look today, I felt like such a newbie. I don't know what the heck I was doing. I nearly attempted to do my makeup about 6 or 7 times today and each attempt was an epic fail! Does this happen to you? If it doesn't, bless your talented soul. But when I don't play around with makeup in a while, it shows up in my work!

Sally & Empire Beauty

I found a great beauty supply store in the SD area, I'm sure you San Diegans are aware of this store already but I just barely got around to discovering it myself. It's called Empire Beauty Supply and it's a chain beauty supply store across San Diego county. It's like your average beauty supply store except they have a ton of sales! A lot of their products are buy one get one for 50% off. This includes nail polishes such as China Glaze, OPI, Orly, Essie, and whatever else is there. And I know a lot of you go to Sally Beauty to purchase your OPI or China Glaze nail polishes. Nothing wrong with that but wouldn't you rather buy one and get another one for half off?! Now I've been to two Empire Beauty Supply stores and one of them did not sell any China Glaze nail polishes... yet! This was the one in Rancho San Diego so don't go there if you plan on purchasing China Glaze, I swear I'm saving you all the trouble! Instead, I went to the one in Grossmont Center and they do carry China Glaze and everything else.
So I didn't purchase much at Empire but I figure I might as well show you my haul anyway. I purchased China Glaze "Frostbite" for only $2.50 ( this was on sale for half off ) and I also purchased the Essie Matte About You nail polish for less than $10. Sally's was also having a sale with Seche Vite Base and Top Coat. Basically you get free top coat with a purchase of a base coat. And I love Seche Vite Top Coat. Definitely my favorite by far. I also needed nail polish remover so I bought Beauty Secrets acetone and a nail file by Soft Touch. That's all for now. I'm thinking of doing a look later today so stay tuned. (:

Random Story

I don't usually do this but I thought I'd share my experience at CVS the other day. And please, don't judge me for what I am about to say. (:
I was waiting for Victor to get off work and I had about an hour to kill so I thought I'd stop by CVS which was right across the street from his work. I was in the beauty section (as always!) just browsing around. I did not plan on purchasing anything, I honestly just wanted to make the hour go by faster. I was looking at some nail polishes and I saw these new matte nail polishes from Orly.
I was drawn by the matte purple polish they had and being the faulty person that I am, I wanted to try out the color so I painted one of my fingernails with it. Don't act like you have never done it before! So I walked around a little more with my newly painted fingernail, yes just one nail. :( I was browsing around more just looking at stuff that were on sale and in my head I kept saying to myself, I can't just have one fingernail painted, that looks ridiculous! So the evil (not so)
So I sneakily looked around with my peripheral vision to see if anyone was around and I was completely alone! I thought, perfect... I can totally do this! So I had one hand completely done and I was getting nervous because workers were talking one of after another though the intercom and I was just thinking that at any moment I would hear someone call security because some stupid girl decides to paint her nails during the middle of business hours. Tehehehe.
Then! Dun dun dunnnnn..... I was just three fingernails away from finishing up all my fingers and all of a sudden, as I was returning the brush back into the bottle, the shelf I had placed the bottle of nail polish on decides to fall off and of course, down comes that disastrous opened bottle of purple nail polish just dying to spill out. It was like the bottle was falling in slow motion off the Matrix movie and when it finally hit the ground, it some how ricocheted off their carpet and bounced back up and hit my leg and spilled ALL. OVER. MY. JEANS. (and shoes!)
Talk about karma right!? There I was just finishing up my nails with a bottle of nail polish that I haven't purchased yet, and it was like God just slapped me in the face and said yeah right, like I'm gonna let you get away with this. I was so scared someone had seen me so I quickly grabbed the bottle of nail polish, capped it back on and walked out briskly, but calmly, trying not to draw any attention my way. As soon as I got to my car I dipped like it was nobodies business!
And there I was, when I could have had one nicely painted fingernail, yes just one fingernail, I walked out with seven crapstastic fingernails all chipped and smeared and just an embarrassment to the human race. Oh.. with stained pants and shoes too. I felt so stupid for even thinking that I could have gotten away with it. I would never do that again. It's not worth staining my clothes that I can't even wear anymore! Anyway, I gotta start doing random acts of kindness to even forgive myself because I haven't done anything that stupid in so long. I did think it was kind of funny in the end though. LOL. Karma really got me back this time!
Do you have any funny or embarrassing stories that you had to go through at a store similar to my situation?

Tutorial: Four Easy Steps to Winged Eyeliner
Posted by
Unknown
Hey everyone, I did an updated version of my eyeliner tutorial. It's the same tutorial except this one has better quality pictures. Hope it helps! :)
This tutorial works best using liquid, cream, or gel liners. This is just one of the ways I like to apply my winged eyeliner and of course, there is no right or wrong way to do it. I'm using MAC Blacktrack Fluidline with my Sonia Kashuk eyeliner brush. I also like using L'Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner.
I recommend using an eyeliner brush rather than an angled or flat brush because it's similar to a pen allowing more control for. Use whatever you're most comfortable with and follow these steps. :)
